Abstract

This case study describes the architecture and process we used to ship a product on web, mobile and desktop with a single small team, sharing business logic, design tokens and APIs across platforms.

Key findings

  • Shared design tokens kept all platforms visually consistent.
  • A single typed API contract eliminated most cross-platform bugs.
  • Platform-specific code was limited to navigation and native integrations.

Context

A growing team needed its product on the web for admins, on mobile for field staff and on desktop for power users — without tripling the engineering team.

Architecture

  • One API with a typed contract shared by every client.
  • Shared design tokens exported to web, mobile and desktop.
  • Shared business logic in a common package; platform code only for UI shells and native features.

Process

Weekly releases on all platforms, a single backlog and one QA checklist per feature — not per platform.

Results

The team shipped all three clients in parallel, with a consistent experience and a single source of truth for features and bugs.
